Meet our Volunteers!
From the caring folks who work in the background to maintain our website and our social media, or to develop new focus areas... to those who organize and/or participate in community events, volunteers are vital to our pursuit of Traumatic Brain Injury awareness and prevention in Durham Region.

Meet Sarah!
My name is Sarah Ginn I volunteer to let teenagers know seat belt safety and the dangers of distracted driving. Air bags are a must and valuing life and everything we have is a gift and blessing of in front of us. I had a catastrophic brain injury and was in a coma for 8 weeks. I lost my left eye sight due to my optic nerve injury. I live falling and I’m unable to drive but I’m living with gratitude for I am blessed with living ❤️ soooo safety and gratitude always.
"What I receive from being a volunteer is teenagers reactions after I speak and overall responses down there path in life for safety".

Meet Kerry!
Whitby resident Kerry Corbett loves to give back to her community. In 2014 Kerry suffered a concussion while playing soccer which still affects her daily. It was then that she originally connected with Heads Up! Durham – and quickly fell in love with the community and cause.
"Volunteering with Heads Up! Durham provides me with the opportunity to make a true difference in the lives of others. It also helps me find my purpose and keeps me mentally stimulated. Working on something valuable to my community provides me with a sense of accomplishment also, while growing my knowledge in the concussion space."
