“On the Go for Brain Injury Awareness and Prevention”!

On June 2, 2016, between 6:30 and 8:30 am, teams of Heads Up! Durham committee members and volunteers greeted commuters as they entered GO Stations at Pickering, Ajax and Whitby.
Commuters were offered Brain Injury Awareness cards with interesting facts about children and brain injury and details on how to go to the website to enter to win a fabulous prize!

Indicators of Success:
- We educated approximately 2,000 people, through the distribution of the cards, about brain injury, especially as it relates to children and youth, about June being Brain Injury Awareness Month and about the existence of Heads Up! Durham.
- We tied our initiative into Parachute’s Safe Kids Week with a link so that people could get additional information on injury prevention for children
- We had 293 visitors to the website; 78 people entered the contest
- Received calls from people wanting to volunteer
